Projected opening dates for Colorado Ski Resorts

The projected opening dates for the Colorado ski resorts are subject to change based on snow conditions.  These dates could be pushed back due to lack of snow or could be moved forward if we receive some good early season storms.  You can always check any updates on the specific resort of interest by going to their website.

It is always great to see the first snowfall on the peaks of the mountains and that can happen in August.  There were a few peaks the other day that received some snow.  However, it does not usually stay until we push further into the fall.  Typically around Halloween is when the temperatures are cold enough for the snow to begin to build on the runs at the ski resorts.  Many of the resorts begin making snow as soon as the weather allows in order to get a base, so that the natural snowfall will then stay.

Fall in the Colorado mountains is an incredible sight to see when the Aspen trees begin to turn a brilliant yellow, usually a few patches of red and orange.  It means that the snow is not far behind and so as we approach that time of the year very soon, we look forward to those first runs!
